What are your thoughts on the old Black Eyed Peas vs the post Fergie Black Eyed Peas?

They were interesting when they first came out. But instead of building on that they went the pop star route and went from interesting to sort of entertaining/annoying. The halftime show could have been alright, I feel like there were things that weren't their fault at play.
