Can I run a 8x AGP video card in a 4x AGP?

I was thinking about getting a better graphic card so I can play Sims 3. I was looking at a Radeon HD 2600 card, and it says AGP 8x, but I have a 4x port. Can I put it in the 4x port and still work, or will I have to do anything? Thanks.
